Washington Cares Fund/Public LTC Insurance

Beginning July 1, 2023, Washington workers will pay $0.58 per $100 of their earnings to fund the WA Cares Fund1 which funds limited long-term care benefits to eligible employees. House Republicans have continually fought to end this program and its tax including introducing legislation to repeal the program2 because House Republicans understand that the WA Cares Program is: Unpopular – Washingtonians do not want this program and payroll tax – 63% of voters voted to repeal the program and 450,000 employees have already opted out.
