As you know, our state faces many challenges and difficult choices. I’m focused on finding long-term, sustainable solutions to these problems. While I’m working with my fellow state lawmakers on several issues, my priorities continue to be:

  • preserving and creating jobs;
  • improving our public schools; and
  • ensuring a prioritized and accountable state government.

 

If state lawmakers can ease the regulatory burdens on employers, they can help to preserve and create jobs. By strengthening our economy, our state will have more resources for the priorities of education, public safety and protection of our most vulnerable.

 

As our state addresses its multibillion dollar budget shortfall, it’s vital that the Legislature bring spending in line with revenue without raising taxes. This will require resetting state government in meaningful ways. These decisions will not be easy, but they are necessary.

 

An important aspect of my job is listening to those I represent. I welcome your e-mails, letters, calls, and visits. While we may not agree on everything, you will always find an open door and an open mind.
