Our state is facing significant obstacles. Whether it is families struggling to pay the bills or small businesses trying to stay open, the economic downturn is affecting our communities. While we know better days are ahead, it is up to state lawmakers to find the path forward.
My focus is on creating jobs and balancing the state budget without raising taxes, which go hand and hand. If we can strengthen our economy, we will generate the revenue needed for priorities such as education, public safety, transportation infrastructure, and services for our most vulnerable citizens.
It is time for state government to be a part of the solution – not the problem. This means easing burdens on employers, streamlining permitting processes and promoting common-sense health care and land-use policies. We must also reset state government, reform the budget process and hold state agencies accountable. These solutions would challenge business as usual in Olympia.
Two-way communication is an important part of my job as state representative. As a pioneer provider of Internet service to upper Kittitas County, I understand how electronic communication can connect people. I encourage you to visit my Web page often and consider signing up for my e-mail updates here.
