As most of you know the legislative session ended a little over a week ago on March 13. It feels good to be back home full-time and enjoying everything that our great community has to offer. The 2014 legislative session saw some successes – and some disappointments. One success was the passage of a supplemental operating budget that prioritizes K-12 education and our most vulnerable Washingtonians – without raising taxes. One disappointment was the Legislature’s inability to do more to help struggling people and employers in this fragile economic recovery. Continue reading

One of the town halls was held in Federal Way. More than 60 people participated in the event, including Federal Way City Councilmembers Kelly Maloney, Susan Honda, Jeanne Burbidge and Lakehaven Utility Commissioner, Don Miller. Continue reading

Kochmar bill that helps local water-sewer districts passes House

Legislation co-sponsored by Rep. Linda Kochmar that would help local water-sewer districts operate more efficiently and possibly keep rates from rising passed from the House unanimously Feb. 12.
