Our communities, including families and small businesses, are facing challenges as a result of the economic downturn. Too many of our friends and neighbors are struggling in these tough times, and perhaps you’ve been personally impacted. I’m doing all I can in the Legislature to address these problems head on.
Abraham Lincoln once said: “You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.” This carries meaning as state lawmakers face important decisions. We must enact long-term solutions that put our state’s finances and economy on a solid foundation for the future.
As decisions are made in the Legislature, I will continue to be guided by my priorities of:
- creating jobs by easing burdens on employers;
- prioritizing education, public safety and the protection of our most vulnerable;
- advocating for important local transportation projects; and
- balancing the state operating budget without raising taxes.
It’s an honor to represent the great people of Spokane. To be your voice in the Washington State House of Representatives, I need to hear from. I welcome your calls, e-mails, letters, and visits should you ever be in the Olympia area. I always enjoy hearing from people.
Sincerely,
Kevin Parker
State Representative
6th District
(R – Spokane)

The 2013 regular session adjourned April 28. A special session began May 13 - budget writers and caucus leadership are negotiating an agreement before other members are called back to Olympia to vote on a final budget.
