The 2013 regular session adjourned April 28. A special session began May 13 - budget writers and caucus leadership are negotiating an agreement before other members are called back to Olympia to vote on a final budget.

As a state, we have faced many challenges, but each can be addressed with common-sense solutions. I believe the Legislature must remain focused on the priorities of education, fiscal responsibility, taking care of our most vulnerable and putting people back to work.
I share your vision of a better Washington – we can have the best schools, a clean environment, a climate that allows businesses to grow and create jobs and a balanced budget. We do not have to choose which we want, but we must be smart about how we get there.
