Former 7th District Sen. Scott Barr, wife Dollie visit Olympia

Rep. Kretz hosts the couple, says they have dedicated their lives to serving others

Representative Joel Kretz welcomed former Sen. Scott Barr and his wife Dollie to Olympia the week of Jan. 12. The distinguished guests took time to visit with Kretz and others to reminisce about their time in Olympia, attend hearings and track legislation that may impact the district.

Former Sen. Barr served in the state House from 1977 to 1982, and in the state Senate from 1983 to 1993. He and Dollie worked as a team during his tenure in Olympia. Barr, at 92-years-old, continues to serve on local committees and boards.

"Both the Senator and his wife Dollie served Washington with distinction and integrity," said Kretz, R-Wauconda. "They dedicated their lives to serving others in our communities and our state, and I am so proud to call them friends. It's remarkable that at his age, he is still working to ensure better communities around Washington. Dignity, integrity, honesty and hard work are the words that come to mind when Senator Scott Barr's name is mentioned. He and his wife continue to be a shining example of the value of public service."

Sen. Barr and Dollie remain active in the communities around the 7th District and in legislative affairs.
